2002:

10.18.02

Halloween...usually the best time of the year, this one might not be. Some bad personal shit going on the past couple of days, hopefully I still have a fiancee.

On the brighter side of things, I'll have a whole new look soon...so sometimes change IS good.

9.5.02

Drunk again...sessions have been going very well lately, I've nearly doubled our setlist in the past 2 weeks, hopefully melanie catches up with the lyrics.

Wedding planning is kind of stalled right now, Jo and I haven't been doing a good job of saving money but hey, she's got school to pay off, I've got massivo credit card debt from buying studio equipment...we'll figure something out.

It's almost the anniversery of 9-11 and I have to fly out to NYC that same week...little bit nerve racking but hey, I have to do it.

7.1.02

Just saw the KMFDM/Pig/16Volt/Kidney Thieves show....I felt kind of bad for 16volt, their name wasn't even on the marquee until an hour before the show. I've been waiting to see Kidney Thieves in concert for awhile and I wasn't disappointed...they fucking rocked. I thought kidney thieves and 16volt put on a hell of a show. KMFDM was good, but comparing this show to the past 2 times I've seen them (once as mdfmk and as kmfdm with rammstein back in 97) I think this show wasn't as good as what they are capable of. They played a lot of old material, which is cool, but I wish they played more stuff with synths. Meglomaniac and spit sperm were the only 2 songs of symbols that got play. The only new songs I remember hearing were attack-reload and boots. All in all it was a fun show but I think the openers did a better job of putting on a "show"

6.25.02

Saw Rasputina last night, what an excellent show! Despite shredding bows and breaking cello strings, they did an amazing performance. Jolene, Phil and I got to see them perform a mini-set at Twist and Shout earlier in the day and got to briefly talk to them. Such lovely ladies...

Oh yeah, Cherish thought their promotion sucked. I say, indie label bands don't have the kind of cash to do massive promotion.

4.30.02

Just when I start giving people credit, I'm reminded again about the steady decline of our society. I was reminded about how music has become a "business" and no longer about creativety, originality, expanding forms of emotional expression...no, now it's about how uninpiring can you be in order to make a buck, give em something that will sell sell sell! You're not "commercial" enough, you don't sound like what's on the radio. If you want to be on a major label, you gotta be commercially-viable.

Yeah sure, I'm a sucker for a good chorus like the rest of em. Just because something is rememberable or catchy that doesn't mean it has to be the sonic equivalent of mayo on white bread. It's sad that the music industry has gone from embracing new ideas to playing it safe once again. Wasn't there a so-called music revolution in the early 90's? Just as in politics, the revolutionaries have become just like the corrupt despots they overthrew. Do we blame the industry or the people who continue to buy this shit they pass off as "music"? Is the public buying this stuff because the mainstream radio bands are all they know of? I'm sure it's a combination of both society's growing apathy and the music CORPORATIONS manipulation.

I was tempted for a moment to sell my artistic soul for a limo and and my picture on the wall of Virgin Megastore but if so called "success" as an artist means being enslaved to write Dave Matthew-esque songs for the rest of my life because I owe some corporation 2 million dollars for the recoupment, I'd rather drive around in a shitty little van, selling my albums door to door and living on ramen noodles.

3.31.02

I'm engaged!! I actually was able to keep the proposal a secret until Jolene and I went to New Orleans and then I sprang it on her. No date set yet but I'll have some select photos from our trip up soon.

3.19.02

I'm going to be in New Orleans for 9 days starting on the 22nd! I'm totally psyched...actually, I'm just looking forward to seeing if Jolene will steal something from Trent Reznor's house again :)

Yeah yeah, I finally got off my ass and put up the pictures from Industrial Revolution 1.

3.5.02

*singing* Jooobbblesss....again.

Oh well, it was great while it lasted. Getting paid to snowboard and play Quake is always fun :) At least I got to make some good contacts out in NYC and I might possibly look for work out there (both web work and music work).

The date for the Garbage video shoot here in Denver has been pushed back to March 25th so it looks like I'm going to miss it since I'll be in muthfuckin New Orleans that week. Mmm...partying and decadence in N.O.

Oh yes, and I did find a singer finally. Weeee.

2.6.02

So the singer auditions are sucking...I still have yet to be "blown away" by anyone, maybe I'm expecting too much. Fuck...why can't Denver be more like L.A.?

In better news, I might be rubbing elbows with Shirley Manson and the Garbage crew soon.

1.23.02

Damn...NYC is a crazy fucking city :) I had a blast this last time out there. If it wasn't for the girlfriend and cats I would have been pretty depressed about coming back. In about 15 hours I'll be going out for Jolene's birthday. I'm only 6 months behind her! (oohh nooo!!!)
