I've grown to love absinthe and since there are all sorts of misconceptions about it I decided to add what I know about it.

My own experiences:

I'm not sure what prompted me to finally try absinthe. There always seemed to be an artistic allure to it and one night I was bored and surfing the net when I hit paydirt. If you are truely interested in trying it and live in the U.S. like I do, it's not that hard to get someone to ship you some from Europe...it's just a matter of if you're willing to get busted by customs, possibly lose the the money you spend on it (and it WILL be expensive), and you have to actually find a vendor/person you trust and is willing to break the law to send it to you. Here's a picture of my favorite brand.

After weeks and weeks of nervousness, my first bottle arrived and I was safe. Since then I've ordered many bottles and shared what I could with friends. I can only describe the feeling of drinking absinthe as a buzz with a heighted sense of mental clarity. You don't get that slowed down drunk feeling from regular alchohol but instead you're alert and feeling "expanded". I've noticed everytime I've drank absinthe it's always put me into a mood of super creativity.

Some people tell me that absinthe will kill me. Well, so will alchohol, cigarettes, fast food, and many other things. Absinthe is definately not for everyone but I enjoy it immensely.
